Air Ambulance Insurance — What May Be Covered
Cover varies a lot — but the principles are consistent.
Many travel, expat and corporate policies include medical repatriation cover. Whether your particular case is covered depends on the policy wording — not on the diagnosis alone.
Often covered
Repatriation by air ambulance when medically necessary. Ground ambulance to and from the airport. Medical escort costs. Sometimes the cost of a family member accompanying.
Often not covered
Repatriation purely for convenience (clinically not necessary). Pre-existing conditions that were not declared. Activities excluded by the policy (e.g. some extreme sports). Travel against medical advice.
How we work with insurers
We liaise directly with insurers and assistance companies — but cover decisions belong to the policy.
Tell us where the patient is. We do the rest.
