Glossary
· AircraftAir Ambulance
Any aircraft configured and crewed to transport a patient under continuous medical care.
An air ambulance is an aircraft — jet, turboprop or helicopter — equipped with a stretcher, monitoring, oxygen, ventilation and infusion capability, and crewed by clinicians trained in aeromedical care.
The category covers everything from a King Air turboprop on a short island transfer to a long-range Challenger or Global jet running a transatlantic ICU mission. The mission profile selects the aircraft, not the other way around.
