How Fast Can a Medevac Flight Be Arranged?
From a few hours to a day — depending on aircraft, permits and clinical clearance.
The most honest answer is 'it depends on what is moving in the background'. The variables are aircraft availability, crew duty time, permits and clinical clearance from both hospitals.
Best case
When an appropriate aircraft is already on station and clinical clearance is straightforward, missions can launch within 2–4 hours. Helicopter scene retrieval can be faster again.
Typical case
Planned repatriations and ICU transfers usually launch within 12–24 hours, often less. The clinical review and permit work runs in parallel with aircraft positioning.
What slows it down
Awaiting medical reports from the sending hospital. Out-of-hours permit offices in some countries. Non-standard runway or fuel-stop requirements.
Tell us where the patient is. We do the rest.
