Guarantee of Payment (GOP)

A GOP is the document that lets the patient avoid out-of-pocket payment at the hospital or to the air ambulance provider. It is issued by the assistance company after the case is reviewed and cover confirmed.

For air ambulance missions, the GOP usually covers the flight, medical crew, ground ambulance and incidental costs. Scope and exclusions are spelled out in the document.
