Also known as: MEDIF clearance
Approval from an airline or aeromedical authority that a patient may travel, sometimes with specified conditions.
For commercial medical escort and stretcher flights, the airline's medical desk reviews a MEDIF or similar form completed by the treating doctor, and issues clearance with conditions (oxygen, escort, mobility).
For air ambulance missions, clearance is internal to the medical partner running the flight, based on a structured fit-to-fly assessment.
